Last night the fog was so thick the stop lights were barely visible until we were nearly upon them. We were pulling into the driveway and Evie asked if they would have school tomorrow because, well, fog. Can you imagine it? A fog day? School canceled on account of fog? She could. Which made me laugh, a little too hard because it is a good indication of how many "inclement weather" days we've had this January. Four, to be exact, which was a gift because many schools have had five. Three in one week!
Now, upon waking, thanks to this never-ending snow day, the girls greet me with a hopeful "Do we have school today?" Which is met with much disappointment when the answer is yes. It's anyone's guess how long it will take them to reason that we are supposed to have school every day, but meanwhile, I'm guessing Midwest parents everywhere are greeted with the same question. Are you?
A "fog day" is a novel concept though. Perfect for those murky days when we can't see more than 25 feet of life at a time. Yet, we must keep driving. Headlights on, moving forward. His mercies are new every morning, and tomorrow's forecast is clear.
