This is happening.

I’ve never been good at keeping a diary.

Recalling memories or information without carefully taken notes isn’t one of my strengths, either.

But pictures….pictures are my jam.  I’ve always loved capturing memories with pictures.

In a few short weeks, I’m pretty sure our world is going to be rocked with Miss Adelaide Kay’s arrival, and we’re going to want to remember as much as we can.  Hellooooo, blogging.  I’m hoping this blog will help ten years down the road when I’m trying to recall all those important firsts, and the quirky particulars that I so quickly forget.  Chris helps fill in some of the gaps, but really, neither of our memories can be trusted.

One memory that hasn’t been lost is of something Chris used to say to me throughout our relationship:  “You may be a mess, but you’re my mess.”  At our wedding, my Maid of Honor, Brooksie, even referenced this quote in her toast.

And it is….So.  True.  I may try to occasionally cover up my mess, but the people who love me know waaaaaay better.  In reality, we’re all messes in our own way.  People are messy because life is messy, and this past year in particular has provided some real perspective on the messiness of life.  We’ve had friends go through unbelievable heartbreak, and we’ve had friends experience unparalleled joy.  These life extremes ultimately make me more reliant on a Jesus who knows the ENTIRE extent of my mess and saved me anyway.  There’s a lot of beauty in the mess, and I hope that this blog will help magnify my gratitude for those moments that may not seem like much, but are truly magic in the middle of the mess.
