First things first:
My dear friend Brooksie shared that gem on my due date. Love it.
As I'm typing this I am bouncing on an exercise ball. It's actually much more comfortable than any chair, and it can potentially help bring baby girl into position. As the days continue to pass, and Miss Adelaide continues to wait, we become more and more anxious to meet her. On the very first night in our Bradley class, the teacher had us take our due date and add EIGHT days. The teacher said to forget the original due date we were given because on average, babies arrive eight days after the estimated due date. Soooooo we could be waiting for awhile. We had our LAST appointment with our OB today, and although she admitted it was anyone's guess as to when Adelaide will appear, she thinks it will happen within the next couple of days. Today the Doctor also did a membrane sweep to try to get things going, but she said she's had 50/50 results with it - it works for some, and doesn't for others. I've been having some contractions, but nothing that indicates Miss Adelaide is in any rush. An induction is scheduled for next Wednesday, August 14th, should Adelaide be reeeeaaaallllyyyyy stubborn.
In an effort to stay busy, I loaded up this past weekend with lots of activities (most of which involve plenty of walking), and Friday night was no exception. On Friday, Chris and I headed out to "First Fridays" in the Crossroads Art District for a food truck dinner and art browsing.
In one of the first galleries we stopped in, there was a man SINGING HIS HEART OUT and he had the attention of everyone in the room. After he was done he walked around greeting people and when he saw us, he realized how very pregnant I was and declared to the ENTIRE room that I was expecting a baby. Then our friend yelled "I NEED TO SING TO THE BABY!" So I asked that if he sing, he let her know that it was time to come out, and so began a SERIOUSLY LOUD rendition of Diana Ross's "I'm coming Out" (during which he had Chris and I join in). After that he decided a lullaby was in order, and led us over to the grand piano where he sang "All the pretty little ponies" (a lullaby) to Adelaide.
It was officially Adelaide's first serenade! People loved it and I thought it was hysterical. Admittedly, a lot of public attention has never been my scene, but I know looking back this will be a very fun memory in the middle of a typical Friday. Here's a snipit of the video a stranger took for us:

I think my face here really says it all.

The artist tries to get an innocent bystander to buy Adeladie a pony in the middle of the lullaby.
My favorite gem: "My Lord, that's your fellow woman!"
Needless to say, it was a very memorable Friday night.

Kristin I absolutely love reading your blog. I have been thinking about you and Chris a lot lately and anxiously awaiting for Adelaide to enter this world. I am so excited to meet my little niece. Enjoy your next few days until you enter the wild world of parenthood. We are keeping you three in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy! I'm so glad you're enjoying it and we SO appreciate your prayers :) It's nice to be able to keep family informed even though we're far away. Can't wait for Miss Adelaide to meet her cousins in Iowa!
DeleteI LOVE THAT WEBSITE. That is hysterical. Good story tonight! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why but I always have to type 2 comments in order to get responses by email. You may notice this trend in the future. It's not just on your blog so either it is a blogspot thing or I haven't figured out the trick to change that!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed the website as much as I did! Made me laugh for sure :) I was wondering if people were notified when I responded to a comment...good to know! Thanks for the heads up friend!
DeleteYou have to mark a box to be notified of responses, but that option isn't available until one comment is already there. Surely that's not working as designed...it's probably a user error. :)
