In the event you don't follow the exact same blogs I do, here are several posts that hit my blog-dar over the past week that I think are just absolutely, positively, excellent.
First up, Jen Hatmaker's post: "Run Your Race"
I fell head over heels for Jen when I read her book "Seven" a couple years ago. If you haven't read it, and you are interested in exploring "a deeply reduced life in order to find a greatly increased God" I suggest you at least read the cover. Then decide if you're ready for your world to be rocked. If you are, proceed. If not, come back to it when you are. It will make you laugh and cry all within two minutes of each other.
The post I link to above makes me love her all the more. I maaaaaaaaaaaybe teared up reading it.
Side note, I'm taking a random road trip tomorrow for a round trip total of less then 12 hours to hear Jen speak for maaaaaaybe two hours total. I'm positive it will be worth it. CANNOT. WAIT. Can you tell I'm a super fan?
Second, Modern Mrs. Darcy's post: "Buying a house vs. buying a house AND a life"
The finance major in me loves her take on this. Behavioral finance at it's finest! And although I already had the book she recommends in the article on my "to-read" list on Goodreads, it's now jumped a few spots in line. This one is thought provoking.
And finally, because I needed a good laugh after tearing up reading Jen, and thinking so intensely about future house purchasing after reading MMD, here's one for a GOOD LAUGH:
Finally, the Momastery post: "Whack-A-Mole"
I was laughing so hard I was crying.
Happy Weekend!
Love the whack-a-mole one especially!! Hadn't ever thought of that analogy. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you thought it was funny with a baby in a crib...just wait! :)
DeleteI know, right Amy?? I saw an article that was circulating on FB this week called "How to put a toddler to bed in 100 steps" which was also hysterical. If you haven't seen that, check it out too. I feel like I have more realistic expectations about future bedtimes!!
DeleteAfter reading this I also thought how funny it would be to keep a list of the questions my babes ask during bedtime. I bet they would be great to look back on in 20 years!
DeleteKeeping a list would be very sweet! I did read that "100 steps" article. Quite hilarious! I feel like ours are relatively good at going to bed but we still have THOSE moments!
